When it comes to rustic charm, the knots in the pine are a plus, so when seeking out your materials, the knottier the better. In fact, just ask the manufacturer for knotty pine. A departure from many of the previous log cabin kitchens this design features contemporary looking gray cabinets combined with a variety of custom solid wood features. Some of the standouts include the distressed wood island with built-in stove top, the custom wood dining nook, large copper apron sink and wood beam ceiling. The timber structure uses a teakwood-toned finish, which is also used on the ceiling wood slats and the solid wood kitchen cabinets. Also, to help tone down the heaviness of an all-wood design, the walls of the kitchen are flat drywall panels for a cleaner canvas.

Currently the fad is minimalist, light colors, marble, white cabinetry- all lovely but a bit of a fish out of water in a log home.
